Join the League
Membership in the League of Women Voters, 100 years strong, will add your voice to empower voters and defend democracy in the oldest voting rights organization in the country. Our effective nonpartisan grassroots advocacy has altered the landscape of local, state, and national policy.
We invite you to join the League of Women Voters of Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Area. Everyone, age 16 and older, is welcome! We are a group of women and men committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Our volunteers work year-round to register Lake County voters, host civic education activities and nonpartisan candidate debates and forums, provide voters with timely dissemination of voter registration and election information, and encourage the training of poll watchers and election judges.
- As a League, our members increase the understanding of public policy issues through in-depth program, advocacy, and action on current issues at the community, state, and national levels. We seek transparency in government through observation and study of local government entities.

Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy. That is the mission of our League. Because participation is key to this mission, we strive to keep our membership dues as low as possible. As an inclusive organization, we understand that our dues can be a hurdle for some potential or current members.
If you find the current membership fee is a financial hardship, you may be eligible for a free membership grant. Simply contact the Membership Director for more information.
Consider Making a LWVIL Education Fund Donation That Directly Benefits Our League
All League efforts require resources. Your donation to the LWVIL Education Fund will allow our own League to offer enhanced member events and educational programming that further our dual mission of “Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy.”
Of the basic $75 membership dues to these national and state Leagues, our local League retains only $9 per member for local voter services, member events and educational programming. Contributions to LWVIL Education Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Please consider a tax-deductible donation that will be retained solely by our League and allow us to provide additional resources and opportunities for civic engagement and education in our community.
All donors to the LWVIL Education Fund will be provided with a receipt for tax purposes.
